Quality Improvement Engineering Intern

Position Overview
The CQI Engineering Intern will assist in in enhancing product quality and customer satisfaction by addressing complex engineering issues related to vehicle performance. This internship provides an opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and contribute to significant projects, including the resolution of complex issues and ensuring proper fitment. The intern will gain hands-on experience in quality improvement processes, data analysis, and problem-solving techniques within the automotive industry.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Assist in gathering data related to customer complaints and product performance. Analyze trends in quality issues using statistical tools and software. Support the development of reports summarizing findings for management review.
  • Project Support: Collaborate with engineering teams on major projects focused on trim complex issues, wheel alignment, balancing, and garnish seating. Participate in root cause analysis sessions to identify underlying problems affecting product quality. Help develop action plans to address identified issues effectively.
  • Testing and Validation: Assist in conducting tests related to wheel alignment and balancing procedures. Support validation efforts for design changes aimed at improving product fitment. Document test results and provide feedback for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all activities related to quality improvement projects. Prepare presentations summarizing project outcomes for internal stakeholders. Ensure compliance with company policies regarding documentation standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA. 
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Minitab).
  • Familiarity with automotive systems or manufacturing processes is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week.
